Description

This course focuses on developing effective classroom presentation skills (preparation and delivery of course materials) and interpersonal skills needed to effectively communicate with students in both classroom and extra-class settings (e.g., online course sites, e-mail, office visits, etc.). Particular attention will be given to research on how student-teacher communication influences learning and student course affect. Topics include, basic classroom communication models, verbal and non-verbal channels, lecture vs seminar formats, Socratic methods, questioning techniques, out-of-class communication, and the use and effects of modern communication technologies.
