DEQUE UNIVERSITY AT SUNY

*Please note: Submission of the enrollment form, does not automatically grant you access to the Deque University platform. Enrollment occurs on a weekly basis, on Mondays. You will receive an email from training@deque.com once you have access to the platform. 


What is Deque University?

“Deque University provides an extensive curriculum of self-guided online courses so you can focus on the skills you need with the flexibility your schedule requires. Our self-paced online courses cover the fundamentals of web accessibility and extend to native mobile accessibility, Word Document accessibility, PDF accessibility, special role-based accessibility topics, and prep-courses for IAAP accessibility certification”. – Deque University

SUNY has entered into an agreement with Deque Systems Inc. to provide accessibility training across all SUNY Campuses. 

Courses are arranged into several curricula:

  • Web Accessibility
  • Document Accessibility
  • Native Mobile Apps
  • Customer Service for People with Disabilities.

Any SUNY Faculty/Staff/Student can access Deque University courses once enrolled. The system-wide subscription is paid for and supported by SUNY System Administration.

How do I know what course(s) are right for me? 

It is recommended that everyone complete the “Accessibility Fundamentals – Disabilities, Guidelines, and Laws” course first, then take additional courses that meet your interests and technical skill level.

How long do Deque Courses take to complete?

The courses are online, self-paced, and take from 30 minutes to 6 hours to complete. Most courses will take 60-90 minutes. 

What level of experience do I need to take Deque Courses? 

Courses are designed for a wide range of technical skills from easy to advanced. The course Introduction page provides information on the primary intended audience, technical level, suggested prerequisites, and duration. 

Will I earn a badge or certificate? 

Courses include quizzes that when successfully completed provide a course certificate.  

Great! How do I get started? 

  • Check to see if you already have a Deque account already by logging into Deque University using your campus email as the username, select “Forgot Password”. If you have an existing account, this will enable the password recovery/reset. 

I do not have an account, now what? 

  • Enroll Here to request to receive a Deque University account,
  • You will receive an email from training@deque.com with Welcome Information and further instruction to set-up your Deque account, once you have been enrolled into the Deque University platform. 

Please Note: 

  • Once you have been enrolled into the platform. Be sure to check SPAM/Junk folders for this Welcome email as well. 
  • Enrollment into Deque University occurs on a weekly basis on Mondays’. If you are submitting the enrollment form, after the Monday of a given week, please expect to receive Deque Access information on the following Monday.
