Register for the SUNY OTTER Institute 2025: Accessibility Edition

June 2nd – August 22nd


The OTTER Institute is an opportunity for online practitioners, regardless of teaching modality or experience, to learn more about online education’s innovations, trends, and challenges. This year OTTER will focus on digital accessibility.


The OTTER Institute is FREE to all SUNY campus members. For Non-SUNY Members, there is a $25.00 flat fee.

Assessment Leadership

Register now for Assessment Leadership, an online asynchronous course in Brightspace that goes from July 8th – August 18th.


Course participants will apply what they learn directly to their campus context through interactive resources and engaging assignments that teach effective self-assessment and project management practices.


What you will learn:

  • Define, manage, and evaluate a project designed to advance assessment on your campus
  • Identify and apply the change management skills required to meet your campus assessment needs
  • Implement strategies to influence your campus assessment stakeholders and culture from any level of the organization
  • Apply at least one theory or model of leadership to frame assessment initiatives on your campus


Who should take this course? Faculty, staff, or administrators who have some assessment experience or who have completed either the Institutional Effectiveness or Assessment of Learning Outcomes Certificate programs.

Project Management Fundamentals

Learn the essentials of project management using the NYS PM Guidebook, V2. This 2-day workshop is ideal for SUNY staff new to managing projects or leading teams – no prior experience required.

Library Leadership & Management Certificate Returns This Fall!

The SUNY Office of Library and Information Services and the SUNY Center for Professional Development are pleased to bring back the Library Leadership and Management Certificate program this fall.


Designed for current and aspiring library leaders, this fully online program offers practical leadership and management training. Complete any three virtual courses to earn the certificate and a Credly badge for each – plus a bonus badge for completing the full program. Courses may also be taken individually.

Congratulations to those who have earned their certificate in Leading Change in Higher Education!


The LCHE course equips participants with the knowledge and tools needed to lead transformative change within colleges and universities. Through an engaging and reflective learning experience, participants explore leadership strategies, change management models, and practical approaches for advancing institutional goals. Welcome to CPD!

Ariel Bryant has joined the SUNY Center for Professional Development as a Program Coordinator, working with the Delivery and Services team to support training and professional development activities.


Ariel brings valuable experience from her previous role as a Program Coordinator for Student Employment Services at Syracuse University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Africana Studies from SUNY Albany, reflecting a strong foundation in social dynamics and cultural awareness.


Outside of work, Ariel is the lead singer in a soul band, blending her love of music with vibrant stage presence and creative expression.

Madelaine Kaplan has joined the Communications team as the Manager of Community Engagement. In this role, she will be responsible for overseeing all communications materials.


Madelaine recently graduated from SUNY University at Buffalo with a degree in Communications. Before stepping into her current position, she interned with the CPD during the spring semester, gaining valuable experience as a marketing intern.


In her free time, Madelaine enjoys staying active through running, and spending time with family.
