Amplifying Student Voices: EOP Launches New “Proud to Be EOP” Podcast

As the Arthur O. Eve Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) prepares to celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2027, a new student-led podcast is helping share the stories, experiences, and impact of one of SUNY’s most transformative educational initiatives. EOP, founded in 1967, provides access, academic support, and financial assistance to students from historically underserved backgrounds, helping thousands of New Yorkers achieve their higher education goals.

The new Proud to Be EOP Podcast was developed under the leadership of Dominique Wheeler, Director of Opportunity Program Operations.  and is driven by EOP Student Ambassadors from campuses across New York State. Each ambassador develops and hosts their own episode, selecting topics and guests that reflect the many dimensions of the EOP experience. Episodes explore student success, mental health and wellness, advocacy, financial aid, career readiness, alumni perspectives, and the program’s lasting impact on students, families, and communities.

Behind the scenes, the SUNY Center for Professional Development (CPD) has helped bring the podcast to life. CPD’s Jennifer Snyder works directly with student hosts to record, edit, caption, and publish episodes, ensuring accessible, high-quality content for listeners. The partnership highlights a lesser-known but important part of CPD’s mission: supporting innovative SUNY-wide initiatives beyond professional development through technical expertise, accessibility support, and digital publishing services.
Listeners can follow the series on the CPD YouTube Channel, where new episodes will be released monthly through June. Be sure to subscribe and tune in to this perfect morning-commute podcast to hear the voices, experiences, and success stories that continue to make EOP a life-changing program for students across New York State.
