Program Development
SUNY Center for Professional Development (CPD) programs are designed for the communities of faculty, instructional support staff, librarians, faculty developers, and all others who work either directly or indirectly with students. Programs are based upon identified needs from the campuses and SUNY communities in support of SUNY strategic priorities. Program areas include all aspects of teaching and learning, student success, advice, research, leadership, assessment, and the effective use of technology in education.
Programs are delivered in a variety of formats:
- Asynchronous Online Classes

Some of these offerings are part of certificate programs aimed at equipping individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary for a career in higher education. The courses in these programs are delivered online, with most being asynchronous, ensuring they are engaging and interactive. Upon completion, participants receive a digital badge that highlights their acquired expertise.

SUNY CPD Welcomes SUNY SAIL |
On October 26, 2023, the SUNY Office of Student Success, lead by Senior Vice Chancellor Donna Linderman, announced the SUNY Strategic Academic Innovative Leadership Institute (SAIL) would merge into the SUNY Center for Professional Development (CPD) allowing SAIL to leverage SUNY CPD’s program and support model and infrastructure. The merger enables both CPD and SAIL to expand their networks and create a broader range of professional development and training programs along with services to campuses. It is expected that SUNY SAIL signature programs will continue to be offered through SUNY CPD.
Both organizations share a mission to empower individuals and organizations through workplace learning and development. Merging CPD and SAIL as a distinguished Leadership Institute increases operational efficiencies and creates additional areas for collaboration and growth. Please join me in welcoming SUNY SAIL Director, Carolyn Mattiske to our team at SUNY Center for Professional Development. Thank you for your continued support of CPD and SAIL. We are looking forward to the new opportunities this merger presents in 2024. VIEW Current SUNY SAIL Programs – Lisa Raposo, Executive Director |
