About Us

Our Mission...

The SUNY CPD is a collaborative central resource for the SUNY community providing access to high quality professional development opportunities focused on the latest trends and established best practices in higher education to enhance the capability of SUNY faculty and staff and increase SUNY's competitive advantage.

How We Will Accomplish Our Mission...

The CPD will provide a full complement of professional development programs, training, and services to key target audiences on its member campuses and across the SUNY community. Key target audiences include:

  • Campus leadership and administration
  • Faculty and instructional support staff
  • Technical staff

CPD activities will facilitate community building, collaboration and networking across the campuses to leverage SUNY expertise and resources for the benefit of the system. Through alliances and strategic partnerships the CPD will innovate to deliver cost-effective programs and services in a variety of formats to meet SUNY's needs.

About Us...

The SUNY CPD was established in 1989 as the SUNY Training Center as a central resource for technical training and support of campus-based and University-wide technology-related activities and services. Support activities targeted improvements in quality, quantity and cost-effectiveness.

The CPD has evolved into the central resource for top-notch professional development, training and support services for its member campuses and the entire SUNY community.

Programs and services fall into the following categories:

  • Academic Programs - for the "Academic Communities"
  • Technical Programs - for the "Technical Communities"
  • Conferences & Events - conference & event coordination and support, meeting/classroom facilities, web conference support and consultation
  • Leadership Institute - leadership development for faculty and staff
