Conferences and Events

The SUNY CPD, partnering with other SUNY-wide organizations, coordinates conferences and events to foster collaboration and information sharing within and across the many disciplines of the SUNY system. These include conferences and events sponsored all or in part by the SUNY CPD, as well as other SUNY conferences.

conference on instructional technologies logoConference on Instructional Technologies (CIT), partnering with the Faculty Advisory Council on Teaching & Technology (FACT2), the Office of the Provost, the University Faculty Senate, and the Faculty Council of Community Colleges, this is SUNY's largest, most prominent event on instructional technology in education.

CIT, which began in 1992, provides a dynamic opportunity to share best practices and innovations in the use of technology to enhance teaching, learning and research. The conference is held annually in late May and is hosted by a different SUNY campus each year. Attendees include faculty, professionals, technologists, librarians and administrators from SUNY's 64 campuses, as well as other colleges and universities outside the SUNY system. For more information about CIT and links to past conferences, visit the CIT website.

SLN SOLSummit (SUNY Online Learning), sponsored by the SUNY Learning Network (SLN), is an annual SUNY-wide conference specifically for online instructional designers, directors of online learning, and those interested in online learning environment support, services, and best practices. The SOLSummit is open to anyone regardless of their CMS, SUNY or SLN affiliation and is usually held in late February or early March.

SUNY Wizard Conference is sponsored by the Information Technology Exchange Center (ITEC), with support from the Computing Officers' Association (COA), and is geared toward the SUNY technical community to address technology-related issues that are important to SUNY campuses. The conference, held annually in November, is attended by SUNY IT professionals including CIO's, DBA's and technical assistants.

Faculty Development Cooperative is an event where attendees work together to regionalize opportunities for faculty development and to learn about SUNY-wide resources and support for teaching and learning.

SICAS Summit, sponsored by the SUNY SICAS Center (Student Information & Campus Administrative Systems), is an annual forum established to meet the technical and functional needs of the SICAS Center membership. Their program supports the administrative software service and training needs for campuses using offerings from SunGard Higher Education's product line. Their membership includes both SUNY campuses and New York-based private institutions. The SICAS Summit is held annually in the Fall.
